30 Pints A Week Boozer To Half Marathon Cruiser šš»āāļø

Another massive result in camp this week.
The hunk of a man pictured above has cartianly worked his socks off over the last 20 weeks. He wishes to remain anonymous so we'll refer to him as AD in this post.
When AD came to R5 he was stuck in an all too familiar cycle. The stress and demands of his job meant booze was the go to relaxant.
What started as a few pints on a Friday to unwind, slowly turned into post work drinks at the pub on a Thursday. The occasional Tuesday and Wednesday beers crept in. Saturday nights began getting heavy.
Before he knew it, he was averaging around 30 pints a week. Nuts!
AD had been in great shape before. When new clients sign up to the program, I often ask them to send over a picture of their ideal physique, just so I know what we're aiming for.
He sent me a picture of himself from a few years back. Lean, great muscle mass, strong, but he admitted it wasn't done in the healthiest of ways.
This time around we started from the ground up. Addressing the blindingly obvious issue... alcohol.
The strategy was a month no booze to begin with. Simply to reset, detox and get hormones back to baseline (yes hormone levels get totally whacked when drinking regularly).
All whilst working on improving habits around food quality and food tracking.
20 weeks later, AD still hasn't touched alcohol and there's no sign of him returning to the local. He knows it's a trigger and he's in that head space where improvement is priority number one.
I don't reccomend everyone goes t-total. Most can improve whilst having a few glasses at the weekend. But if you've had problems with consumption in the past, cutting it out initially is a great place to start.

AD is now 18kg down in weight and has gone from 27.4% body fat, down to 8%. Incredible.
He's displayed the kind of commitment and work rate that inspires me to be better.
In a recent session, he made a nice comment about how the program at R5 has totally changed him and his mindset. I confirmed we donāt change people, we bring out what was already there.
I honestly believe everyone has that mindset in there somewhere, but it needs training like any other muscle.
Take your eye off the ball and start choosing Netflix over training, takeouts over tray bakes and all of a sudden, that momentum has not only stopped, but it's heading back the opposite way.
(Disclaimer - Nothing wrong with getting stuck into a juicy series on Netflix or an occasional takeout. We just make sure these aren't an issue and we've done all the stuff we needed to do before hand.

If you're looking at AD's transformation and thinking, "wow! thats the drastic change I need", remember...
It just takes the right person, at the right time, to reset that cycle and fire you off on a different trajectory than you're currently on.
Awesome work AD šš¼
Time to lift heavier, run quicker, keep rewriting the script.
