TRAINING, NUTRITION AND MINDSET ADVICE, FOR EVERY STAGE OF YOUR JOURNEY.

Calories... To count, or not to count?
Should you track your calories? Yes or no. For the vast majority I believe yes... and here's why. I personally track every day. It's become habitual. The same way I get up in the morning and brush my teeth, whenever food enters my mouth, it gets weighed and tracked. Some may see this as a lot of effort (and it was initially) but it gradually it becomes the norm. The main reason I track every day and encourage my clients to follow suit, is accountability. Hitting your calor

How many carbs should you eat per day?
General guidelines around daily carbohydrate (carbs) intake suggest your diet should be 45-65% carbs. Meaning if you're daily caloric intake is 2000 calories, 900-1300 should be carbs. This equates to around 225-325g of carbs per day. I would agree that this guideline is fairly accurate for most people. But there is a big difference between 45% and 65%. So how do you establish which end of the scale is right for you. Well, there's a few questions you should ask before setti

Having structure to what you eat stop deviations and encourages you to be more vigilant. Adhering to a structured plan will take time and persisten

Superfoods Q&A
I recently got asked some questions from a journalism student at Sheffield's Hillsborough College. Holly Askew's final project is based around health and fitness (great choice!); her questions revolved specifically around "Superfoods" and a healthy diet. With Holly's permission, I thought I would share the Q&A as there's some little gems of info you may find beneficial. Do you believe superfoods improve quality of life and long term health ? By superfood I assume you're refe

WTF is in my morning shake and WHY?!
I recently pur-chased some protein, a blender, an assortment of other 'superfoods' and jumped on the morning shake band wagon. Generally I'm about the "real food over supplements" life. BUT! I've wanted to incorporate some specific ingredients into my diet and a shake seemed the best way forward. Plus, I had fallen into the bad habit of not eating anything for long periods of times in the mornings, up to 5 hours some days. Which wasn't doing me any favours in my battle to ke
